Book Mobile on the Move!

The Nosu Book Mobile project is up and running as hundreds of students and teachers are enjoying creative and inspiring reading material for the first time!

October 2009 - CHINA The Nosu Book Mobile project is making the rounds to urban and village schools alike, providing new and exciting reading material to countless students and teachers. This project is a first of its kind to the Nosu people, and for many this is the first book they have ever read for pleasure.

Recently, Wendi Gowing, Director of Human Resources at IDEAS, participated in handing out books with the Book Mobile. She states, "the concept of pleasure reading, of reading for enjoyment, was a completely foreign concept for the Nosu people. Before the IDEAS book mobile started visiting their schools, the only books they had were government-issued text books. Early-reading and children's picture books were non-existent."

Additionally, for many in rural villages, the book mobile is the first vehicle they have ever encountered and IDEAS Associates are the first foreigners they have met.  Wendi continues to add, "the book mobile has opened a whole new world for these children and their parents."

The Book Mobile project runs solely on donations and is operated by IDEAS Associates in partnership with Nosu schools.
