The Nosu Project - China

This project enables Nosu communities to solve problems and realize their potential through community development services.Nosu Women

The Nosu are a sub-group of the officially recognized "Yi" ethnicity with a distinct history, language, and culture. They are primarily subsistence farmers in remote mountain areas and while they have seen some improvement in income & education opportunities, their lives have changed little in the past few hundred years.

Through partnerships with local hospitals, government officials, and other non-profit groups, this project helps local Nosu who have identified key problems within their communities. These problems include: inadequate health care, malnutrition, inability to provide children with education, and an inablity to escape a cycle of poverty.

IDEAS’ workers have developed a holistic program to address these issues by providing the Nosu with a variety of tools.

Through culturally appropriate and sustainable projects, we hope to see the Nosu develop the skills and resources necessary to live healthier lives, find joy in their work & family, and become contributors to a healthy community.

Community Development:

• Health and Nutrition Education

• Medical Clinics

• Clean Water/Sanitation

• Student Sponsorship/School Development
