When should I apply to work with IDEAS?
As soon as you sense that you are interested in going overseas, you should complete the Personal Information Form (PIF). This begins the multi-step process which includes:
IDEAS will work with you through each step of the application process and keep you up-to-date on the progress.
How long will I be overseas on an IDEAS project?
IDEAS Associates go overseas on an initial 2-year assignment. Many take this opportunity for language learning and adjusting to the culture before taking on longer assingments. Occasionally, IDEAS may offer a handful of short-term opportunities as well. After the initial assignment, many plan to develop their careers within IDEAS. A time of vocational planning and identifying strategic placement is conducted every few years through debriefing.
We do not have an age limit for working on an IDEAS project. Typically, we look for those who have a minimum of a bachelor's degree, professional experience and are in good physical, mental and spiritual health.
All IDEAS Associates are funded through the donations of friends, churches and family. We require that each Associate develop a base of donors to partner with them in finances, prayer and logistical support. IDEAS supports you through this process with training and communication tools and encouragement along the way.
What benifits does IDEAS provide?
We focus on the long-term health and stability of our Associates. IDEAS offers group health, dental, emergency evacuation and life insurance for all employees. We also have an employer matching 401K option for Associates who complete their initial assignment.
Does IDEAS have any additional requirements?
IDEAS is a U.S. employer and therefore can only hire those who are eligible to work for a U.S. organization. All Associates are required to sign a statement of faith and have experience in developing healthy relationships within a community of faith.
