So how do we develop a sense of awe?

  1. Slow down.
  2. Be present.
  3. Pay attention.

While a walk in the mountains is always inspiring, this morning I sat on my porch in my backyard and looked up to see awe-inspiring cloud formations. I looked around at the beautiful pink geraniums and yellow marigolds in my flower bed, and I tasted really “awe”-some coffee!

All it took was stepping outside and paying attention to what was right in front of me.

Here are some ways to cultivate awe:

  1. Watch the sunset.
  2. Appreciate something unique about the person next to you.
  3. Listen to your favorite music.
  4. Marvel at a piece of artwork.
  5. Read how hope is being restored in communities around the world: https://www.ideasworld.org/impact

At IDEAS we are often in awe as we watch the ways lives are being transformed as professionals work in various communities around the world. Kids with disabilities are beginning to understand their value. Farmers are learning to increase productivity. Students are gaining a love of learning. Entrepreneurs are valuing the holiness of business. Refugees are learning to thrive.

How will you engage the world today with a sense of awe?
