Calling all librarians! Join us for a week-long journey on our Librarian Vision Trip to Jordan!

Global Reach Libraries exists to see people in forgotten and overlooked communities grow in imagination and curiosity, expand their intellectual horizons, and find hope through access to quality information and transformational literature in well-developed libraries.

Global Reach Libraries (GRL) works to provide access to the informational, educational and recreational print and digital resources needed for work, education, and leisure to the children and adults in overlooked, under-resourced communities by providing training and mentoring to local library staff members and skilled assistance in setting up libraries.

Currently in the country of Jordan, GRL is working with 4 schools on a regular basis, as well as providing library consulting and training to other libraries and library staff members.  Opportunities in Jordan and other countries continue to expand, so GRL needs to grow its project team.  This is an opportunity for professional librarians to catch a vision of how God might use their skills and training globally.

During this vision trip, the participant(s) will visit current project partners in Jordan, as well as other libraries in the country to gain a picture of the needs and opportunities.  While primarily an opportunity to observe and learn, the participant may well have opportunities to help with various library projects, depending on the timing of the trip.

  • Professional library work experience
  • Masters degree in Library and/or Information Science is preferred
  • Teachable spirit and flexible attitude
  • Follows appropriate cultural norms
$1050 per person
