Join our IDEAS project in Kenya!  Coming April 2019, a team of healthcare professionals and project leaders will be joining a hospital in Kenya to train children with disabilities and their families on how to live fuller lives.

Our IDEAS project is seeking wheelchair-trained therapists and technicians who want to pour out their time, attention and expertise with disabled children and their families. Children with disabilities and their families will receive creative care and interaction during this retreat. This will allow therapists and clinicians to develop effective therapy regimes.

Approved applicants will be fitting, modifying and repairing chairs and engaging in collaborative learning and training with the Kenyan therapists.

Since this is an annual event, those interested in coming for several years, and building strong relationships that facilitate excellence and encouragement for all, are especially valued.

For more information and to apply to this opening, please visit our IDEAS project website for more information.

nairobi-109492_1920The World Health Organization says “An estimated 1% of the world's population, or just over 65 million people, need a wheelchair. In most developing countries, few of those who need wheelchairs have access.”

With an appropriate wheelchair, a disabled person can attend school and can participate in family and community events. IDEAS works alongside hospitals, organizations and communities who need access to assistive technologies. You can participate in this ongoing effort to restore dignity and hope by volunteering your time to care for children with disabilities.

You will also explore the exciting and beautiful culture and country of Kenya! You will experience new sights, sounds and flavors while you develop new friendships and learn from one another. If you have ever wanted to put your compassion for children and expertise to use, join us as a wheelchair-experienced therapist or technician in Kenya and sign up today.
